This week, when we went up to the classroom, I realized how much easier it was to do things like creative writing and discussions in a closed area where you can see everyone and there isn't the barrier of having a computer in front of you. I personally really liked having a desk in front of me to use in order to write my creative writing.
This week, we really focused on tragedy. I didn't think at first that there would be that much of a difference between the ideas of tragedy that we would be reading from each other. I had never actually thought of tragedy other then its common English definition. While reading the piece by Arthur Miller, I learned that I will disagree with people and that it is okay to do just that. I also was able to see that doing the blog over our tragedy ideas shouldn't be putting down what I'm expected to be putting down, but putting down what stuck out to me and my thoughts and opinions on it. I'm going to be trying harder to really nail my ideas down inside the blog posts from now on. Because in the end, it's going to be a fantastic tool for me to use.
Even though this isn't directly related to AP Lit, I also learned the importance of getting your homework done when you have the opportunity too and not when I get home. Usually I wait until I am home so I can utilize my laptop for whatever help I might need. But the past week, there have been young children at my house that take up a lot of my time and energy. Especially last night, I got home very late and ended up neglecting my tragedy blog because of it. I learned that I should do things when I have the time to do it, even if it is on the way home in the car because I never know when I might be able to just sit down and work through my homework. By doing this, I won't feel so tired and overworked and will be able to have some time to just take a deep breath and relax. Also, by managing my time better, I could have more time to work on scholarship applications that might help me in college and paying for it.
This past week, I have also been questioning the idea of working with the same people over and over again for my discussions. I know that we have similar ways of looking at things so usually we do not get much of a variety of ideas to look at during our discussion time. Even though it might save time, it starts to get boring to hear the same ideas over and over again. I'm trying to play with the idea of possibly working with more than just the people that I call my good friends. I might be able to expand my mind and think of more diverse things.
